Client: MorningStar at RidgeGate
Location: Lone Tree, Colorado
Project Status: Under Construction

Our role as landscape architects on this project was to develop a lush planting design that would make an impact on the development itself and as well as the rest of the community. The elaborate planting scheme would serve as a massive sea surrounding the architecture to soften it up and offer reprieve to the community of senior citizens living independently and/or with assisted living. The project is situated across from the Lone Tree Performing Arts Center, and surrounded by other commercial and residential development. The client was very open to suggestions and had a clear vision for the final outcome of the project. They allowed us the freedom to specify a wide variety of plants. The outcome was a planting design that will withstand the entire four seasons, offering visual interest year-round from the street, paths, and internal views of the courtyard. We used large strokes of perennials, ornamental grasses, groundcovers, shrubs and trees to diversify the landscape. A memory care garden was carefully crafted based on research on the various conditions of memory loss for the elderly.
