CHAUTAUQUA PARK

The landscape of this mid-century modern home was in dire need of an upgrade when we first came across it. The residence features beautiful, original architecture and is centrally located in Boulder’s prime residential neighborhood of Chautauqua Park. The clients, a newly wed couple and avid cyclists, were looking forward to enjoying their new garden space. They were very involved in the design process that took place in conjunction with an interior remodel.

The main design principles revolved around seamlessly integrating the mid-century architecture using simple materials and geometry, marrying the conceptual architectural aesthetic with the existing, rugged natural beauty of the site. We developed a street-facing front entertainment terrace with seating and a coffee-table fire pit, where the clients could sip wine at sunset while enjoying their gorgeous Flatiron mountain views. Ornamental grasses define the spaces, and groundcover enlivens the existing front tree grove.
