SNOWMASS ROUNDABOUT

Client: Town of Snowmass Village
Location: Snowmass Village, Colorado
Project Status: Completed in 2016
Services: Concept Design through Construction Administration
Construction Cost: $4.9 Million
Softscape Cost: $150,000

The Town of Snowmass Village recently added a roundabout at the busiest intersection in the community, which is also the entrance to its iconic lodging area and ski hill. Connect One Design was selected to create a hardscape and planting palette that provided four-season interest and signified an arrival threshold into the heart of this world famous resort. The hardscape materials borrowed hues from the adjacent rock formations, with way-finding texture differentiations between crosswalks, sidewalks, and truck aprons. The plant material was composed of a combination of native and adapted species that reflect the beauty of the surrounding natural areas, and is able to bring four-season interest while surviving in sometimes harsh roadside conditions. The landscape also acts as a beautiful setting for a new art piece commissioned by the Town. The roundabout was opened in the fall of 2016, with all remaining plant material being installed by July 2017.
